Record vs. Rockers -- 1-0.

Update -- Cleveland continues to struggle outside Ohio. The Rockers managed to end a five-game road losing streak Saturday by defeating Minnesota, 79-71. But they still have won only two of seven games away from home. The Rockers usually don’t give themselves margin for error, scoring an average of 66.6 points and giving up 63.9 points. After a slow start in part because of injuries, LaToya Thomas -- the first overall pick in the 2003 draft -- is becoming a factor in the rookie-of-the-year race, averaging 9.6 points and 4.4 rebounds. The Sparks didn’t get a point (and only three shots) from their reserves in Saturday’s 84-75 victory over Seattle but were more encouraged by 13 points from Mwadi Mabika, who has been battling leg problems all season. The teams last met in Cleveland on May 27, with the Sparks pulling out a 79-71 victory. The Sparks have won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams since 1999.
