HealthSouth Corp.’s vice president of finance, Jason Brown, has agreed to plead guilty to fraud charges and become the 12th company executive to admit having a role in an alleged $2.5-billion accounting fraud, prosecutors said.

Brown, 34, has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and falsifying books and records, said Alice Martin, the U.S. attorney in Birmingham, Ala.

Brown has agreed to cooperate in an investigation of former Chief Executive Richard Scrushy.
