Hamas Says Truce Hinges on Prisoners

GAZA CITY —
The radical Palestinian group Hamas warned Wednesday that a cease-fire declared under the U.S.-backed peace plan would unravel unless Israel freed thousands of prisoners.
The truce was declared by Palestinian militant groups at the end of June. Israel has said it will release hundreds of prisoners but will not free anyone accused of being behind suicide bombings or ambushes. Hamas members are among those who are not supposed to be freed.
