Juniper Profit Rises to $13.6 Million in Quarter

Juniper Networks Inc., the world’s No. 2 maker of equipment to direct Internet traffic, said second-quarter profit more than doubled to $13.6 million as sales increased 41%.

Net income was 3 cents a share, compared with $6.23 million, or 2 cents, a year earlier, the company said. Sales rose 41% to $165.1 million.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Juniper, which trails Cisco Systems Inc. in sales of routers that transfer data between computers, is benefiting from rising demand overseas.

Juniper shares fell 76 cents to $14.11 on Nasdaq before results were released.
