Traffic Stop Nabs Suspect in Robberies
A 39-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of the robberies of six local businesses since July 1, police said.
Chester Vincent Cecere was arrested about 2:30 p.m. after police said they spotted suspected fraudulent license-plate tags on his car, Sgt. Bob Ciszek said.
Police said they recovered a replica handgun and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Cecere was being held on $50,000 bond.
Ciszek said the FBI also was investigating Cecere in connection with the Tuesday robbery of Washington Mutual Bank in Santa Ana.
