Bill That Urges Teaching of War in Laos Is Signed

Gov. Gray Davis Thursday signed into law a bill that encourages the teaching in secondary schools of the Southeast Asian role in the Vietnam War and the “secret war” in Laos.
The bill was crafted by Hmong leaders in Fresno after a rash of teen suicides, in hopes that learning about their heritage will bolster Hmong youths.
