Florida’s Luis Castillo was named to the National League All-Star team Sunday, replacing injured Atlanta second baseman Marcus Giles, who suffered a concussion from colliding with Chicago Cub pitcher Mark Prior on Friday.

The switch-hitting second baseman has 14 stolen bases and is hitting .314 with six homers and 26 runs batted in. He is the third Marlin named to the team, joining third baseman Mike Lowell and rookie left-hander Dontrelle Willis.

Home plate umpire Marty Foster sustained a concussion and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher at Montreal after he was hit on the mask by a pitch from the Expos’ Britt Reames.

Foster collapsed to the ground behind catcher Michael Barrett after Reames’ 1-1 pitch sailed over the catcher’s glove and struck the umpire’s mask near his forehead.

Montreal trainer John Adam attended to Foster, who was able to rest on one knee before being taken off the field. Expo team physician Dr. Michael Thomas determined Foster had a Grade 1 concussion, the least severe on the scale, and light whiplash.

Foster was examined at an area hospital before being cleared to fly home. The game resumed after a nine-minute delay with Fieldin Culbreth moving from first base to behind the plate.
