5 Killed in Attack on Police Station
From Times Wire Reports
Taliban fighters attacked a police station in southern Afghanistan’s volatile Kandahar province, killing five men, including a commander, a security official said. Kandahar is the former stronghold of the Taliban, which was ousted from power in a U.S.-led offensive in late 2001. The hard-line militia has been blamed for a rash of attacks in recent months, many of them in the south. It was not known if the attackers suffered casualties.
