Only six of 60 protesters arrested at an agricultural conference here last month will face charges, the Sacramento County district attorney’s office said.

That decision was made this week as prosecutors hit a legal deadline to decide whether to pursue charges against the demonstrators.

“These people spent between one and three days in jail. Seeking further punishment would not be in the interest of justice,” said Assistant Chief Deputy Steve Grippi.
