President Steps Up Anti-Drug Campaign

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo called for weekly public burning of seized illegal drugs to prevent corrupt law enforcers from reselling them. She also said she wanted the media to publicize names and pictures of suspected traffickers. Police have raided a number of suspected hide-outs in recent weeks, seizing drugs and arresting several suspects.
