U.S. Retail Gas Prices Near 3-Month High
The average U.S. retail price for self-serve regular gasoline rose for a third consecutive week, adding 0.3 of a cent to $1.524 a gallon, the highest in almost three months, the Energy Department said.
Prices climbed in all regions except the West Coast, with gains led by a 2-cent rise to $1.541 a gallon in the Rocky Mountains region, the government said in a weekly report. Fuel in the Central Atlantic region rose 1.7 cents to $1.522, and Gulf Coast prices rose 1.3 cents to $1.447
The nationwide average, for the week ended Monday, was the highest since the week ended April 28, when it was $1.557 a gallon.
The price, based on a survey of about 900 filling stations in 50 states, still was down 12% from a record $1.728 in March, government data showed.
