From Times Wire Reports

The person whose preserved head was found at a Davis residence Friday has been identified.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department said it came from a Solano County man who died more than a decade ago. They won’t release his name until the family is notified.

The head was among a number of body parts confiscated last week from former autopsy assistant David Beale’s home.

Using numbers inscribed on a brass tag attached to an ear, authorities determined that the head came from the UC Davis Medical Center’s body donation program.

Officials said it is still unclear how Beale obtained the body parts.
