Counting blessings

Rockabilly girls got game. At the Blessing of the Cars, which took place Saturday at L.A.’s Hansen Dam, they strutted their stuff in full stilettos, traipsing over grassy knolls without missing a step. All this while sporting leopard hot pants and toting pink parasols(!). Along with the glammed-up hotties, the lowdown on the hoedown: a stellar performance by Nevada’s Saddle Tramps, easily one of the most offensive hillbilly bands we’ve ever turned an ear to (and we mean that in a good way). The robust group couldn’t get through a song without lyrically kicking someone in the teeth. Among those who showed up to get their pre-’68 car blessed by an Episcopalian bishop was Jay Leno, who cruised to the event in what appeared to be a hunk-a hunk-a burning Duesenberg. Dang, homes.
