Access to Suu Kyi an Aim of U.N. Envoy

U.N. envoy Razali Ismail’s planned trip to Myanmar today boosted pressure on its military government to allow access to detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, reportedly injured in a clash that prompted a crackdown on her party.
U.S. officials said weapons, bloodied clothes and other evidence found at the site of the May 28 clash suggest it was an ambush by pro-junta thugs and that many more people may have been killed than the four cited by the government.
