Animal Companions

“Leap From Animals to Humans” (Opinion, June 15) should be a wake-up call to pet owners. Monkeypox, a serious, contagious and sometimes fatal infectious disease, will never be contained, as pet owners eat and sleep with their pets. Instead of seeking “entertainment” from pet ownership, perhaps the millions of pet owners in America, who spend over $30 billion a year on their animals, should seek human companionship for their loneliness.
