Hasta la vista, Pacific Palisades
Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, have put their Pacific Palisades compound on the market at just under $18 million.
The actor, who has said that he might think about running for California governor after the July 2 release of “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” and Shriver, a contributing anchor to “Dateline NBC,” bought a newly built home in a gated Brentwood community for nearly $11.9 million in 2002, but planned to move back to their compound after it either underwent a major renovation or was razed and rebuilt.
The couple apparently changed their minds and decided to sell the Palisades property and stay in their ocean-view Brentwood home, which is on six acres and has five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in 11,000 square feet.
Their Palisades compound includes three houses on slightly more than five wooded acres with a stream.
The compound also has three swimming pools and three tennis courts.
The property, adjacent to Will Rogers State Historic Park, is zoned to allow horses for personal use.
A number of building plans are available with the property, including one for a 25,000-square-foot home designed by Steve Gianetti and several for a 30,000-square-foot home designed by Bill Hablinski.
The existing houses, all built in the early ‘80s, range from about 4,200 to 6,500 square feet. Schwarzenegger and Shriver bought the houses starting in 1986, the year they were married.
Among the sellers of the individual houses the couple bought to form the compound were actors John Forsythe and Daniel J. Travanti.
Schwarzenegger, 55, will reportedly earn upward of $30 million for “Terminator 3.”
A longtime Republican, he is honorary chairman of the Afterschool Alliance, an advocacy organization.
Shriver, 47, has written several books, including “Ten Things I Wish I’d Known -- Before I Went Out Into the Real World.” She is the late President John F. Kennedy’s niece.
Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills, has the listing, sources said.
Leaving ‘Practice’ and Beverly Hills
Lara Flynn Boyle, who is among half a dozen key cast members leaving “The Practice” on ABC-TV when it airs this fall, has sold her Beverly Hills-area home for $955,000. She bought a larger home on the Westside, real estate sources said.
The house she sold was built in 1939 but was recently remodeled. It has two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms in about 1,600 square feet. It also has a curved staircase, crown moldings, hardwood floors, French doors and a brick patio.
Boyle, 33, portrayed the chief villainess in the 2002 movie “Men in Black II.”
Host tunes in to Valley Village
Katie Wagner, host of “Music News” on the TV Guide Channel and daughter of actor Robert Wagner and actress Marion Marshall, has become a first-time home buyer with her purchase of a San Fernando Valley residence for $657,000.
Wagner, who was named after family friend Katharine Hepburn, bought a Valley Village home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a guesthouse. Built in 1948 and remodeled in 1991, the ranch-style house has a pool and a large yard.
Wagner, in her 30s, was a model in London and Tokyo before she worked for MTV and Channel 4 in Great Britain. She hosted the syndicated show “Live From the House of Blues” before hosting “Music News,” which features new releases, artists’ profiles and suggestions on where to find good music acts on TV.
She also hosts the half-hour TV Guide Channel show “What’s On,” recommending what to watch during the week.
Owen Salkin of Coldwell Banker’s Sunset Strip office had the listing, and Michael Rasky of DBL Realtors, Los Feliz, represented Wagner in her purchase.
