Rapper’s Entourage Yields Guns

Ten members of rapper Snoop Dogg’s entourage were detained on suspicion of weapons violations Tuesday near the site of the Black Entertainment Television awards in Hollywood.

Los Angeles police and federal agents stopped the caravan of three vehicles, including an armored van with gun ports, about 4:30 p.m. outside the Renaissance Hotel on Highland Avenue and recovered a cache of weapons, said Assistant Police Chief Jim McDonnell.

One of the vehicles had just dropped off Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, at the Kodak Theatre, where he performed.

Agents recovered seven handguns, including one with a laser targeting device, McDonnell said.

The men were taken into custody on suspicion of violating federal weapons statutes, including acting as bodyguards for a convicted felon and being a felon in possession of body armor. Police also planned to question Snoop Dogg in the incident.
