Marine ends ‘Idol’ service

U.S. Marine Joshua Gracin will not be reporting for duty for the “American Idol” national summer tour after all.

Gracin, one of the top 10 finalists on the Fox talent competition series, was pulled from the tour by the Marines because he would not be able to complete his required military training by then, said Maj. Curtis L. Hill.

After viewers voted him off the show on May 7, Gracin returned to the 1st Service Support Group of the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton. A lance corporal, he had been given clearance to stay in L.A. while competing on the show.
