Woman Killed in Gang Confrontation
A man with an assault rifle killed a 23-year-old woman seconds after asking her boyfriend about his gang affiliation, authorities said Saturday.
Myra Navarro and her boyfriend were standing on a sidewalk in the 1800 block of 153rd Street about 10:20 p.m. Friday when a blue compact vehicle pulled up to the curb, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Spear said.
A passenger asked Navarro’s boyfriend what gang he belonged to before firing at the couple, striking Navarro, Spear said.
Navarro died of chest wounds, he said.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
