New Panel to Scrutinize City’s Business Taxes

City Council President Alex Padilla reestablished a council committee Thursday to consider proposals to simplify and provide relief from the city’s business taxes. Padilla appointed Councilwoman Wendy Greuel as chairwoman of the committee. Other members are Councilman Tom LaBonge and Councilwoman Jan Perry.
A separate panel of business representatives and city officials has made several recommendations for reform, which will now go to the reconstituted council committee, Padilla said.
