The Clippers once figured they would be battling Houston for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. They were half right.

The Clippers are playing out their schedule under interim Coach Dennis Johnson and Houston trails Phoenix by half a game for the final playoff spot as they start a three-game homestand against the Clippers tonight.

Johnson, who replaced Alvin Gentry on March 4, will again be without injured power forward Elton Brand, who scored 53 points and had 31 rebounds in two victories over the Rockets this season.
