Navy Hospital Adding 40 Beds for Injured Troops
From Times Wire Reports
Workers at a Navy hospital on Monday began converting office space into a 40-bed ward reserved for San Diego-based Marines and sailors injured during the fighting in Iraq.
The ward at Naval Medical Center San Diego is being set aside for troops mostly suffering from musculoskeletal injuries, the most common type of injury in warfare.
The hospital in San Diego’s Balboa Park also is prepared if chemical and biological weapons are used against U.S.-led forces in Iraq, said Capt. Mark Bowman, administrative director.
