Elephant Calf Dies During Delivery
From Times Wire Reports
Misha, an African elephant expecting her first baby at Marine World, lost the calf last week after a 22-month gestation.
The 22-year-old Misha was artificially inseminated, but lost her 280-pound baby when the umbilical cord snapped during delivery, according to a UC Davis post-mortem exam. The calf was the third African elephant to die at Marine World since October.
