Kerry Woos the Right With Religious ‘Rights’

Share

Re “Bill to Protect Religious Expression on the Job Causes Concern,” May 10: If I entertained for a moment a vote for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) for president, he just lost it. Co-sponsoring a ridiculous religious expression bill with the likes of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) while running for president is nothing more than pandering to the conservative religious right. That group doesn’t need any more support with President Bush at the helm -- especially from the likes of Kerry.

Are we, too, becoming a theocracy? How many more “rights” will the government hand to workers who already think they deserve to get paid for merely showing up? The proposed bill would open a Pandora’s box for more lawsuits based on fuzzy, amorphous definitions (just as “sexual harassment” suits have mushroomed). People have become just a little too touchy in their march toward a politically correct world. Get over it and get on with your life.

Re “2004 Race May Pivot on Details of Tax Bills,” May 11: Let’s hope so. Everyone with a big tax cut, say $10,000 or more, should vote for Bush, and everybody whose tax cut is less than that should vote for someone else. Bush will get the 1% or so of the vote he deserves.
