Suit in 16-Year-Old’s Drowning to Go to Trial
A wrongful death suit filed by the family of a 16-year-old boy who drowned in a high school pool will go to trial after the family and the Lodi Unified School District failed to reach a settlement.
Chhayarong Kong was found at the bottom of Tokay High School’s pool during a physical education class on May 17, 2002. The senior died the next day.
The Kongs and the Lodi Unified School District are scheduled to return to San Joaquin County Superior Court on June 25 to set a date for a trial, which could start by November.
