U.S. Identifies 2 Marines Killed in Accidents
The Pentagon identified two Camp Pendleton-based Marines who died in accidents in Iraq.
Sgt. Kirk Allen Straseskie of Beaver Dam, Wis., drowned Monday while trying to save the crew of a crashed U.S. helicopter south of Baghdad. The four crew members were killed, but none has yet been publicly identified.
The Pentagon also said Cpl. Douglas Jose Marencoreyes, 28, of Chino, Calif., was killed Sunday in southern Iraq when the truck he was riding in rolled over. At least 160 U.S. service members have died in the campaign.
