Townshend on his way back to ‘normality’

Share

In his first public comments since being cleared of child pornography charges in London earlier this month, the Who’s Pete Townshend said he intends to “work my way back to normality.” In an e-mail to Rolling Stone, the guitarist and songwriter said he will resume writing his autobiography with the aim of publishing it next year and that he intends “to get up and play just as soon as I can.” Townshend was arrested in January after he accessed a child pornography Web site. Though he was cleared of criminal charges, he was formally cautioned on May 7 and placed on a register of sex offenders. Townshend had maintained that his purpose in visiting the site was for research into his own abuse as a child.
