Trash Removal

Re “On the Lookout for Illegal Dumpers,” May 15: The public can help the city fight illegal dumping by doing what I do. I carry a notepad in my van and whenever I see illegally dumped trash, I write down the address and a description of the trash. When I get home, I go onto the Bureau of Street Services Web site (www.lacity.org/boss) and file an e-mail service request. Within three or four days the mess has been cleaned up. Those without a computer can do the same thing by phone by calling the city’s new 311 line. Either way, the system works well and helps keep our city clean.
