Kennel Owner Gets Jail Term for Animal Cruelty
The owner of an El Monte kennel where hundreds of malnourished animals were found in filthy conditions was sentenced to 60 days in jail for animal cruelty, authorities said Thursday.
A Superior Court judge also fined Patricia Cravy $200, placed her on three years’ probation and ordered her to undergo psychological counseling.
In August, animal control officials seized 274 animals, mostly dogs, but also 12 cats and a raven, from Cravy’s kennel.
The dogs were emaciated and crowded about 15 deep in filthy concrete kennels, officials said. More than a dozen dead dogs were found.
