UCI Biology Faculty Member Honored

A UC Irvine faculty member has been named a university professor, a post reserved for international scholars with exceptional teaching abilities and one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon UC faculty.
The system’s Board of Regents appointed Francisco J. Ayala, in the university’s ecology and evolutionary biology department, one of 35 UC faculty to be honored with the designation since 1960.
Ayala joined the system as a UC Davis professor in 1971 and came to Irvine in 1987.
