Re: Susan King’s article on films in which God is portrayed in human form (“From Divine to God-Awful,” May 22). Though it mentioned the all-black “Green Pastures,” a film derived from a Broadway play, it was remiss in failing to cite the all-black musical “Cabin in the Sky,” MGM’s groundbreaking, all-star movie that served as Vincente Minnelli’s Hollywood directorial debut.

Eddie Anderson was at the center of a struggle between good and evil as Ethel Waters, representing the former, and Lena Horne, the latter, vied for his love, the whole thing refereed by God on one side and the devil on the other. Rex Ingram portrayed both.
