Halloween trick is on Pennywise

On Halloween night, Pennywise drummer Byron McMackin spent 45 ghoulish minutes in the House of Blues’ Foundation Room elevator, which went on the blink when WeHo suffered from a spooky blackout. The band, dressed in “Clockwork Orange” attire, never got a chance to hit the stage. Both Pennywise and AFI’s sets were canned in light of the darkness. Those in the know, however, hitched a ride to Beverly Hills where revelers powwowed at a NOFX party on Canon Drive.... Attention shock-rock lovers: The all-girl Teenacide Records band, Viva Le Megababes, is morphing into “Ms. Fits” on Nov. 23 at the Bigfoot Lodge in Atwater Village. The foursome plans to rip through a dozen Misfits covers.

Jewel’s hair day avoids disaster

So what does Jewel do when disasters get in the way of her hair schedule? Send in a private plane, of course. When her hairdresser Laurent D couldn’t get out of L.A. last week because of the brush fires, she sent in a jet to retrieve him so she could get her ‘do done for the Radio City Awards in Vegas. Fancy.... One of my all-time favorite DJs, Paul V -- of Dragstrip 66 fame -- has revived the weekly dance club, “Monday Night Alternative,” at Rage in WeHo. This Monday, the gay and straight club crowd will be treated to Emperor Norton Records night and Paul’s giving away CDs by Ladytron. Trippy.
