Microsoft Discloses N.C. Settlement Details

Microsoft Corp. will settle a consumer lawsuit for as much as $89 million that claims the company violated North Carolina’s antitrust and unfair-competition laws.

Microsoft will provide vouchers to consumers that can be used to buy computer hardware and software. The value of the vouchers may reach $89 million.

Microsoft has agreed to pay about $1.55 billion in settlements with 10 states where it was accused in lawsuits of using a Windows computer operating system monopoly to gouge consumers.

Shares of Microsoft rose 13 cents to $26.23 on Nasdaq.
