Italian elegance in Long Beach
With its gondola-lined canals and quaint bridges, Naples Island in Long Beach has been the backdrop for a number of movies, TV shows and commercials. This house on the island has been featured in films more than once.
It appeared in the movie “Diggstown” (1992), starring James Woods and Louis Gossett Jr., and in the film “For Love of the Game” (1999), starring Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston. A car commercial showing the house is in the making.
About this house: Although it appeals to the entertainment industry, this Mediterranean-style, three-level home wasn’t designed to catch Hollywood’s eye. It was built in 1989 for entertaining.
Asking price: $8.5 million
Size: The house has five bedrooms and six bathrooms in 7,764 square feet.
Features: There are two kitchens, one on the main floor and the other on a lower level, which also has an informal dining area opening to a waterfront patio with a fountain, barbecues and a fire pit. There is a spa in the back of the house, for privacy. And on the upper levels, there is a wrap-around balcony with waterfront views. On the water, there are two boat docks.
The house also has five fireplaces, a formal dining room and a wet bar; a den, an office, an exercise room, an elevator, a wine cellar and a three-car garage.
