Seized Material Deemed Not Suitable for Bomb
Radioactive matter seized by Czech police in a sting is not suitable for making an atomic bomb, the nation’s nuclear agency said.
Police said Saturday that they had arrested two men from Slovakia who were trying to sell 6.6 pounds of a substance containing radioactive materials.
Pavel Pittermann of the State Department of Nuclear Safety said preliminary tests showed that the material was not weapons-grade quality and was probably not potent enough to make a “dirty bomb,” which disperses radioactive material using conventional explosives.
