You’ve Got to Be Taught

I applaud the courage of Michael Ramirez’s editorial of Nov. 13 (Commentary), highlighting that hatred is nurtured and taught. It is without doubt that murder, as portrayed by the madrasas and encouraged by religious leaders in mosques, is elevated as the ultimate gift to Islam when directed against Jews, Christians and infidels. Such teachings belie the message to the West that Islam is a religion of peace. Until these schools of hate are dismantled and a new generation is educated to renounce violence, there can be no hope for peace in the Middle East or trust between the Islamic and non-Islamic worlds.
