From Times Wire Reports
The White House was evacuated and Vice President Dick Cheney was moved when an air defense radar system erroneously showed a plane in restricted airspace, authorities said.
Fighter jets were scrambled to look for the plane, thought to be less than five miles away from the White House, but could not find it, authorities said.
The alert ended after about 15 minutes, and Cheney and other White House staff returned safely to work.
