Two Arrested in Robbery of Surf City Man

Two men wanted after a violent Veterans Day robbery left a 77-year-old WWII veteran with critical head injuries have been arrested, Huntington Beach police said Saturday.

Curtis J. Hill and Jon K. McKinney, both 21, are residents of Huntington Beach, said Capt. Dan Johnson.

Police suspect them of robbing and beating Cecil Warren of Huntington Beach as he was walking to his job at Union Bank, 16141 Beach Blvd., about 4:30 a.m. Johnson said.

Warren, who does custodial work for the bank, was crossing the parking lot when he was assaulted and knocked unconscious by two men.

The robbers took Warren’s wallet.

Warren was found unconscious by a passerby, Johnson said.

Warren is at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, he said.
