Anti-Tax Group Drops Effort to Recall Governor

From Times Wire Reports

An anti-tax group trying to recall Gov. Kenny Guinn gave up, with a leader saying that not enough signatures had been gathered to qualify the recall question for a ballot position.

Chris Hansen of the Committee to Recall Gov. Guinn said more than 51,000 signatures had been gathered -- possibly enough for an initiative petition or a referendum, but far short of the 128,109 needed to force a recall vote next year.

Hansen in Carson City said the recall of former California Gov. Gray Davis was a circus atmosphere that adversely affected the Nevada initiative.
