Refreshed by a quick trip to Phoenix

I just finished Craig Nakano’s article [“In Phoenix, Hot and Hip,” Nov. 16] and found it wonderful. I feel as if I’ve had a relaxing and refreshing mini-vacation -- although it was a whirlwind trip -- thanks to his writing style and detailed descriptions.

After taking this trip through his eyes, I believe the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass was the most satisfying and will be my choice should I ever vacation in Phoenix. Normally, Phoenix is a bit too hot and humid for me, but you have made it a much more enjoyable destination. Thanks for a pleasant journey.

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass last June. We were upgraded to a suite, and the room was amazing. The full living room and wet bar was tastefully decorated. The large bedroom had Indian bedding and was very comfortable. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower with two shower heads, a separate large tub and dual sinks. Wow! We could not enjoy the two balconies overlooking the pool because there were too many bugs.

The food served at our conference was excellent. Every meal had touches of the Southwest and was beautifully plated.

We couldn’t wait to jump into the gorgeous pool, but we could only wade in because the water is only 4 feet deep. Why would a hotel build such a shallow pool? It was very disappointing.

The casino was also a major disappointment -- too smoky. We left after 10 minutes. The boat ride was cute, though.
