No Kidnapping Charges for Parents of Ailing Boy
Prosecutors in Salt Lake City dropped kidnapping charges against Daren and Barbara Jensen, with the pair pleading guilty to custodial interference in a deal that holds no jail time or fines.
The parents were charged with kidnapping for leaving Utah with their son, Parker, 12, after he was diagnosed with cancer and they refused a court order to get chemotherapy for him. They feared it would stunt the boy’s growth and leave him sterile. The deal comes after the state ended efforts to get custody of the boy and force treatment on him.
