Gaborik, Wild Still at Contract Impasse
Right wing Marian Gaborik of the Minnesota Wild probably will sit out Wednesday’s season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks because of a contract dispute, his agent told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Agent Allan Walsh and Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough met Friday in Montreal, but Walsh told the newspaper there was no change in Gaborik’s status.
Each side rejected the other’s initial contract proposals in July. Gaborik led the Wild in goals (30) and assists (35) last season.

Left wing Brenden Morrow of the Dallas Stars left Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Blackhawks after injuring his left leg only 1:13 into the game when he was hit just above the ankle by the puck. He will be evaluated on Monday.

The Florida Panthers waived left wing Jonas Hoglund. He had 13 goals and 19 assists for Toronto last season.
