Big Night for Agassi Foundation
LAS VEGAS — The eighth Andre Agassi Charitable Foundations dinner, a black-tie benefit for at-risk children in southern Nevada, created a record take of $12.3 million Saturday.
The foundation headed by the tennis star funds, among other things, schools for children in the Las Vegas area. The annual fall dinner has normally raised about $4 million with donations and auctions.
This year’s event at the MGM Grand Garden brought in $2.4 million from its auction and an additional $3.9 million in donations at the time the auction ended. Moments later, Chicago’s Ty Warner, the creator of Beanie Babies and the owner of California real estate such as the Four Seasons Hotel in Santa Barbara, donated an additional $6 million.
