White House Retaliates Against Iraq Critic

Share

Re “White House Blasts Accuser in CIA Leak,” Oct. 8: It is outrageous that the White House is in attack mode with regard to its outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame. It is undisputed that at least one senior administration official broke the law. If the Bush administration really wants to restore integrity to the White House, it should strongly condemn the leak, aggressively identify the leaker and stop pointing fingers at former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV. It’s obvious that the White House’s heavy-handed approach is in retaliation for Wilson’s exercise of his patriotic right to criticize his political leaders.

The hypocrisy is stunning. As the Bush administration wraps itself in the flag, condemning as a traitor anyone with the audacity to disagree with its policies, it exposes an undercover CIA operative, putting her and her associates at risk and undermining the very agency whose job it is to safeguard national security.
