Remember Bono, the musician?

This year, in between meeting with President Bush to talk about the AIDS emergency, raising money for Bill Clinton’s presidential library foundation (by providing his recipe for a Guinness drink), campaigning against land mines, being nominated for the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize (though not winning), being nominated for an Academy Award for best song (though not winning) and receiving an honorary doctor of law degree from Trinity College in Dublin in recognition of his other pursuits -- combating world poverty and relieving Third World debt -- the U2 singer had time to spend with his daughters, Jordan, 14, and Eve, 12, painting.

The result, 16 original pictures -- some as long as 25 feet -- as well as works on paper, will be on view at Christie’s auction house in Beverly Hills from Monday until Wednesday. Next month, they will be auctioned at Christie’s in New York.

The exhibition was created in connection with the publication of “Peter and the Wolf,” a new interpretation of the classic story in the form of a book and CD. The book will feature illustrations by Bono and his daughters, while the CD is the work of his friend Gavin Friday, formerly of the band the Virgin Prunes, and the Friday-Seezer Ensemble.

Sales from the book and CD box set as well as the auction of the original works will benefit hospice care internationally.
