More equal protection

Shawn Hubler’s “Acting on Impulse” (Sept. 28) mentions Sean Penn has a rare concealed weapons permit. The article also mentions Mr. Penn served a jail sentence for assault. Mr. Penn also left two guns unattended in a car that was stolen.

This is just another example of why people feel that there are two levels of law in this state. The vast majority of people cannot get a concealed weapons permit even if they have not been jailed for assault and have demonstrated better judgment than Mr. Penn.

Celebrities and the wealthy get armed bodyguards or weapons permits. This isn’t equal protection under the law but life in California.
