AOL Time Warner to Trim Name Thursday

AOL Time Warner Inc., the world’s largest media company, will officially remove “AOL” from the corporate name Thursday, reverting to what the company was called before its 2001 merger with America Online Inc.

The company’s stock ticker symbol will change to its former “TWX” at the opening of the New York Stock Exchange that day, according to a statement. AOL Time Warner, based in New York, has hired branding firm Lippincott Mercer to develop a new corporate logo.

AOL Time Warner shares rose 2 cents to $15.75 on the NYSE.
