Sprint Won’t Be Barred From U.S. Contracts

Sprint Corp., the third-largest U.S. long-distance telephone company by sales, said the U.S. government decided not to suspend it from receiving new contracts.

In August, the General Services Administration’s inspector general recommended that the agency consider barring Sprint from U.S. work for allegedly defrauding federal clients. A debarment won’t be pursued, Sprint said.

The debarment review was triggered by Justice Department charges that Sprint, which gets more than $600 million annually from the U.S., overcharged federal customers. Sprint in June paid $5.2 million to settle the case without admitting wrongdoing.
