The door closes on the Garage

And now for a moment of silence: The Garage, a rock ‘n’ roll nightclub in Silver Lake, is shuttering its flaming doors on Nov. 17 (wah wah!). In its seven-year lifespan, the electric, eclectic hang was a reliable outpost for excellent and incredibly diverse music. But all is not lost. The owners of the Temple Bar in Santa Monica plan to take it over and transform it into the Little Temple, so good times will undoubtedly continue. In the meantime, don’t miss the Street Dogs show at the Garage on Oct. 29. Featuring Boston firefighter Mike McColgan, the original singer of the Dropkick Murphys, the Street Dogs will also be ruffing it up with Flogging Molly at the House of Blues in Anaheim....

The Little Cave made a heck of an entrance over the weekend, with four -- count ‘em, four -- grand opening nights. Owned by the Bigfoot Lodge’s Bobby Green and his partners, D’mitry and Dimitri -- a.k.a. the Russians -- the Little Cave is breathing life into a cool, quiet stretch of Highland Park, where the living is easy and the parking is breezy.... Come sail away with the Weirdos at the El Rey Theatre on Dec. 5. The punk band is celebrating its 26th anniversary with the release of “Weird World Volume Two” on Frontier Records .... The Viper Room continues its reign as the coolest club on the Sunset Strip. Monday night, the Strokes played a secret show for KROQ and next Wednesday, you can shake, rattle and roll with Jerry Lee Lewis. Great balls of fire! ... Culver City’s favorite speakeasy lounge, Carbon, celebrates its one-year anniversary tonight with a multitude of flava-flav DJs .... And while we’re on the Westside, seems there’s quite a scene brewing on Tuesdays at the Bitter Redhead, a cool joint on Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica. Each week, the Spoilers perform off-beat cover tunes (think early Neil Young and obscure Rolling Stones songs) to a packed house. Fans include Wilco, Minibar and Monica Lewinsky, who was shouting requests at a recent visit....

“Jackass” stuntman Steve-O peeled his pants off at Deep last Thursday and rolled around nek-kid on the see-through ceiling above the dance floor. Gnarlie charlie.... Think pink: Gay rappers Deadlee and God-des are performing at club Synthetic on Friday night at the Hollywood Athletic Club.... And now for some most excellent star-sightings: “Rock Me Baby” actress Bianca Kajlich at Indigo on Melrose Avenue; Weezer drummer Pat Wilson at Rite Aid on Ventura Boulevard; and Mr. T at 24-Hour Fitness in Sherman Oaks. I pity the fool who ain’t down with Barracus.
