Planned Protest Is Dispersed; 50 Arrested
From Times Wire Reports
About 100 people gathered for a protest in the port of Jidda, Saudi Arabia, were dispersed and about 50 of the would-be demonstrators were arrested, security officials said.
The official Saudi Press Agency reported that a “limited number of people gathered” in Jidda, Dammam and Hail and that they were being held for questioning. The protests were organized by the London-based Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia, which says the government is using terrorism as an excuse to round up political foes.
